After Easter was done, our family loaded up and went back home. Then Wednesday April 27th, we got hit with many storms. I was at home with Mackey alone and Andrew was still at work.Well , Mackey was taking her nap and I was watching the weather station when I heard
"If your in limestone or Madison county , you need to be your safe area!"Being me, I panicked and grabbed Mackey from her nap and went straight for our safe place under the stairs. NO Phone, NO radio....when I decided that I might could come out my phone was lite up with text messages asking if we were ok. I didn't know it at that time, but a tornado hit around highway 72 by our house. Later Andrew came home and went spent some time with Mackey and watching the bad weather from a window upstairs. Then the power went out! No Fun! We didn't know what was going on around us like in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham cause again with we have no radio and phone signals were bad. We went to bed around 8:15 that night. The next day is when we heard about all the tornado's damage. Andrew's mom had called and told us. We still didn't have power and people were saying that it might be 5 days before we got any.
So, we hopped on down to my parent's lake house in Calera, Al. LIGHTS! HOT BATHS! It was all good there. Thursday night we just spent catching up and playing around. Friday afternoon we went to Joe's Italian to eat...oh my goodness I LOVE that place!! Saturday Charleigh and Reanna came over and we let the kids hunt Easter eggs and went out on the boat.
No boat picture cause Mommy forgot the camera, but Mackey and Charleigh got on the float.
When we got home that Monday afternoon, we had power and we quickly cleaned out the refrigerator and went shopping for more food. The grocery store was packed with people getting stuff for their empty refrigerators and curfew was getting close.
I can't believe all the damage Alabama has been through, but I just know how very BLESSED we are in both families that none of us have lost our lives, houses, or loved ones during this time.
